Compassion and Communication
When Lauren thinks about the core of the legal profession, relationships immediately come to her mind. She has always valued the ability to communicate and work effectively with others, and is drawn to helping people and businesses by advocating on their behalf. Compassion – one of her top strengths – makes her successful not only in her career as an attorney, and now as a board member, but also in her everyday life.
Motivated by People and Solutions
Lauren is not only motivated by using the law to resolve conflict and bring issues to a conclusion but also by helping people. Her compassion and her relationships with colleagues and clients motivate her to propose creative solutions to businesses and individuals who face conflict. She is also motivated by the variety of legal work she handles – no two cases are alike, and no two days are the same. “I love that about my practice,” she says enthusiastically. The diversity within her practice – from handling liability defense cases for clients in various industries and sectors to handling complex first-party insurance cases and insurance coverage questions – she is driven to solve complex legal issues and present creative solutions. “The practice of law allows me to work with so many of my talented colleagues at the firm,” says Lauren. “It is not ‘siloed’ work. We truly work as a team to deliver the best solutions to our clients,” she added. This relationship-based approach to her practice is one of the reasons Lauren continues to play an instrumental role on the team at Lommen Abdo.
Living Life Outside of Her Career
Lommen Abdo is a lifestyle firm, and believes that attorneys should immerse themselves in their communities and have time to pursue their passions. In that vein, Lauren enjoys taking in the fresh air on the golf course after work and she makes an effort to join her family in Colorado for a downhill ski trip each February. She also volunteers in the winter through Allina Health Courage Kenny teaching kids and adults with disabilities how to ski with the use of adaptive equipment.
Bringing Leadership and Stewardship to the Board
“Lommen Abdo is collegial and collaborative,” says Lauren. When she thinks about her new role on the Lommen Abdo Board of Directors, she wants to ensure strong relationships and the ability to work in a team structure and effectively communicate with people inside and outside the firm remain at the forefront of Lommen Abdo’s culture. Her dedication to the firm and the people who work at Lommen is such an important part of her role as attorney, and she looks forward to applying that same commitment to her role on the Board.
