Lauren Nuffort was the joint recipient of the 2018 Minnesota Defense Lawyer’s Association (MDLA) President’s Award.  Each year at the Association’s annual meeting, the MDLA President has the privilege of bestowing upon a member the President’s Award to recognize his or her extraordinary contribution to the Association and in appreciation of his or her exemplary volunteer efforts to support the MDLA.  On August 17, 2018, President Jessica Schwie selected Lauren Nuffort and Elizabeth Sorenson Brotten as co-recipients of the 2018 President’s Award.

Under Lauren and Elizabeth’s leadership, the MDLA created a Women in the Law Committee in December 2017.  The idea for the Committee initially grew out of encouragement by DRI to foster stronger relationships with women’s groups within State and Local Defense Organizations, like MDLA.  The Committee’s mission is to connect the more than 200 women who are MDLA members by:

  • Providing opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships, facilitating business growth and professional development;
  • Supporting women’s career advancement by providing a forum for leadership and professional development; and
  • Raising awareness about issues of interest to women lawyers.
