Nathan Z. Heffernan / Biography

With four years of judicial clerkship experience, Nathan Heffernan knows how the judicial system works. Nathan received his J.D. at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Prior to joining Lommen Abdo, he served as a judicial intern for Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, served as law clerk for Judge Shaun Floerke in the Sixth Judicial District of Minnesota, and as an appellate Law Clerk at the Minnesota Court of Appeals for four different judges.

In his practice at Lommen Abdo, Nathan serves clients as a business and corporate lawyer helping clients with every stage of their businesses. From entity formation through exit strategy, Nathan is there to assist with all corporate matters including employment law and real estate.

Nathan also serves clients in estate planning and trust formation. Part of his work includes helping his business clients with proactive succession planning and the development of their personal estate plans.

There are times when professionals face unforeseen liability issues which Nathan is there to help with through the firm’s Professional Liability Practice.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Nathan is an avid Minnesota sports fan and enjoys cheering on the Gophers, Vikings, and Loons. While Nathan was a history major at the University of Minnesota, he studied abroad at Trinity College in Dublin and wrote his major thesis on the Irish potato famine. Nathan lived in Duluth for two years before coming back to the Twin Cities.

When he’s not practicing law, he enjoys spending time at his family’s cabin on the Brule River in northern Wisconsin.
