Christopher L.B. Scott / Biography

Chris began his legal career with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services representing clients in various residential housing disputes and serving as a member of the Racial Justice Committee. He then entered private practice and had the opportunity to join the legal teams representing the families of George Floyd and Daunte Wright, among other high-profile civil rights matters. Chris has argued before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court and has been selected as a Rising Star by Minnesota Super Lawyers since 2022 for his successful legal advocacy. In 2024, Chris was awarded 40 Under 40 Black Lawyers by the National Black Lawyers Association.

Civil Litigation

Experienced in civil litigation, focused on defending clients in complex disputes. He represents insured individuals and companies, ensuring their rights and interests are protected in various legal matters.

Insurance Defense

Focusing on insurance defense, representing the insureds of various insurance companies. Chris defends clients in auto accident cases and has recovered thousands of dollars on behalf of plaintiffs by successfully representing individuals in various personal injury and automobile crash lawsuits.

Personal Injury

Defending insureds in auto accident claims, addressing liability and damage issues. Chris works diligently to protect the rights of insured individuals, focused on achieving fair and just outcomes. 

Professional Liability

Representing attorneys in professional liability cases, defending against allegations of legal malpractice. Chris understands the complexities and nuances of professional liability claims. His goal is to protect his clients’ professional reputations and minimize potential liabilities.

Municipal Law

Christopher’s municipal law practice centers on ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. He advises clients on legal matters related to regulatory compliance in legal disputes. 

Civil Rights

Handling Section 1983 claims and immunity disputes in civil rights cases, and defending clients accused of violating an individual’s civil rights, Chris protects his client’s legal rights on these complex cases.

Medical Malpractice

Representing clients that have suffered from medical malpractice and defending medical professionals facing claims of negligence.

Wrongful Death

Representing insureds facing allegations of negligence resulting in death. Chris provides compassionate and strategic legal representation.

Landlord/Tenant

Chris also has experience representing landlords, property managers, and tenants in all areas of landlord-tenant law.  Services include drafting leases and other landlord-tenant agreements to comply with local, state, and federal laws; rent collection, security deposits, and property damage; repair and maintenance issues; evictions, lease terminations, and lease renewals; and fair and equal access to housing.

Chris is an active member of the Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations, the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers and the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association.  He also serves as a mentor for law students and continues to educate individuals regarding residential housing rights and responsibilities.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys traveling, staying active in the community, and attending concerts, comedy shows, and sporting events.
