Describe major career and life decisions which led you to your current position. How have these experiences shaped the way you engage with your clients?
My journey to becoming a family law attorney wasn’t straightforward. During law school, I stumbled upon a family law course that piqued my interest, despite not initially considering this area of law. As I embarked on my legal career during the challenging economic climate of 2010, I gained valuable experience in personal injury law. However, it was my transition to practicing exclusively in family law that solidified my passion for this field.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned the importance of patience and empathy when working with clients facing difficult life circumstances. My experiences have taught me to listen carefully to my clients’ concerns, identify their goals, and develop tailored strategies to achieve them. By understanding the human side of legal issues, I strive to engage with my clients in a way that fosters trust and collaboration.
What motivates you as a lawyer?
What motivates me most as a lawyer is the opportunity to make a positive difference in my clients’ lives. When I meet with a client for the first time, my objective is to understand their goals and concerns fully. Whether it’s obtaining majority parenting time, securing assets, or resolving a custody dispute, I am driven by the desire to help my clients navigate complex legal challenges and achieve their desired outcomes.
I find immense satisfaction in guiding my clients through the legal process and witnessing the relief and gratitude they experience when their goals are met. Knowing that I’ve played a role in helping someone through one of the most challenging times in their life is incredibly rewarding and fuels my passion for advocacy.
Tell us about a few of your biggest successes as a lawyer.
One of my most significant successes as a lawyer involved a custody case that had profound implications for a young child’s well-being. Despite facing numerous obstacles and legal complexities, I was able to secure custody for my client and advocate for the child’s best interests. This client recently reached out to thank me and say that I, along with the judge and therapist involved in this case, saved his child’s life. That’s something I’ll never forget.
What unique perspectives do you bring to your practice?
I pride myself on providing candid and practical advice to my clients. I believe in setting clear expectations and empowering clients to make informed decisions about their legal matters. My approach is grounded in empathy and understanding, but I’m not afraid to deliver tough truths when necessary.
In addition to my legal knowledge, I bring a level-headed and objective perspective to every case. I understand that emotions can run high in family law matters, but I strive to maintain professionalism and focus on achieving the best possible outcome for my clients.
What is your client philosophy?
My client philosophy revolves around honesty, transparency, and empowerment. I believe in providing my clients with the information and guidance they need to make informed decisions about their legal matters. By setting clear expectations and offering practical advice, I empower my clients to take control of their situations and work towards positive resolutions.
I prioritize open communication and collaboration, ensuring that my clients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the legal process. My goal is to build trusting relationships with my clients based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to achieving their goals.
What are you most proud of?
While my professional life may be filled with challenges and complexities, I take pride in approaching each situation with a level-headed and objective mindset.
I’m also proud of the impact I’ve been able to make in my clients’ lives, helping them navigate difficult legal challenges and achieve favorable outcomes. Knowing that I’ve made a positive difference in someone’s life is incredibly fulfilling and reinforces my dedication to the practice of law.
What is a little-known fact about you?
Outside of work, I enjoy pursuing hands-on projects and woodworking. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I discovered a passion for woodworking and found it to be both therapeutic and rewarding. There’s something incredibly satisfying about seeing a tangible result after investing time and effort into a project.
From building furniture to renovating my house, I find joy in the process of creating something with my own hands. Woodworking serves as a welcome escape from the complexities of my legal practice and allows me to unwind and recharge outside of work.
